This weekend Joe and I had a very young house guest: little Bennett called to ask if he and his parents, Kate and Josh, could spend the weekend with us. Bennett is now 11 weeks old and was ready for his first road trip. Since Josh and Kate met in Boston, they were eager to show him the city where his mom and dad fell in love.

The whole family arrived on Saturday morning. After our first cuttles and praises for all the weight Bennett gained (only babies get praised for gaining weight), we headed down town. Kate was glowing behind the stroller on Newbury Street. It was a joy to watch her. Bennett developed a taste for Gucci, Armani and Prada.
After a long, tasty lunch, during which Bennett was admired by all the waitresses and waiters, we met up with Mike and Bryan at the Boston Common. Kate and I took a tour in the swanboats on the lake and afterwords Kate nursed Bennett and the rest played frisbee.
Bennett is a very easy going baby and smiles/flirst when you pay attention to him. Even in the bar/restaurant, where we went after playing frisbee, he did not seem to mind missing out on the martini's the grown ups drank. He only cried, when he was hungry or his diaper was dirty and those 2 were easy to fix. Kate and Josh are relaxed parents and take things as they come/go. They don't stress or complicate things and you notice immidiately that this has a very calming effect on Bennett. Great example!
Back at our house, Joe took out the grill again and surprised us with fish, meat and perfect grill marks. Bennett was put to sleep and we had a chance to catch up with Kate and Josh.

The next morning they left for brunch with a group of friends and Joe and I relaxed all day. We finally found a bike for me. YEAH, YIPPIE, YEAH. What a relief. I am going to test ride one more time tomorrow and then I will order it. After our bike search, we played frisbee again. Josh had given us a new frisbee the day before and we tried it out. A fun, relaxing weekend.
